Hyderabad Honors Trump with Avenue Renaming Amid US-India Relations
Donald Trump Avenue Unveiled in Hyderabad
In a significant gesture, US President Donald Trump expressed gratitude towards India after a road adjacent to the US Consulate in Hyderabad was renamed Donald Trump Avenue. He described this honor as historic, noting that he is the first sitting American president to receive such recognition. On Friday, Trump took to Truth Social to convey his thanks, stating: "The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India — The first US President to ever be honored in this way. Thank you! President DONALD J TRUMP."
The road, situated in the Financial District of Hyderabad, was renamed by the Telangana government as part of the Freedom 250 celebrations, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. The ceremonial plaque was unveiled during an official event attended by Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, and US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams, along with various senior officials and industry leaders.
This renaming initiative was initially announced by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in December 2025. State officials indicated that this move symbolizes the strengthening strategic and economic ties between Telangana and the United States. Hyderabad has emerged as a key hub for American tech firms, multinational corporations, and global capability centers, enhancing business and investment relations between the two nations. The renaming is part of a larger series of events under the Freedom 250 celebrations, which emphasize the enduring partnership between India and the United States.
