A shocking case has surfaced involving a husband who took out loans in his wife's name, absconded with valuable assets, and later sought maintenance from her. The couple, married in 2019, faced a tumultuous relationship marked by allegations of abuse and financial misconduct. After the wife filed a police complaint, the court intervened, leading to a significant ruling against the husband for his deceitful actions. The Allahabad High Court's decision emphasizes the unacceptability of financial and emotional exploitation within marriage, imposing a hefty fine on the husband. This case serves as a stark reminder of the potential for betrayal in personal relationships.

A Shocking Case of Betrayal

A startling incident has emerged where a husband took out loans worth lakhs in his wife's name, absconded with a car and jewelry, and later approached the court seeking maintenance from the same wife.

Changing Circumstances Post-Marriage

The couple tied the knot on May 18, 2019, in Etawah. Before their marriage, both were preparing for competitive exams. After the wedding, the wife secured a job at the Allahabad High Court, while the husband struggled to find government employment. He later pursued an LLB and began practicing law.

Allegations and Relationship Strain

The husband claimed that his wife's behavior changed after she got a job. Conversely, the wife accused him of both mental and physical abuse, alleging he misused her finances.

Loans Taken in Wife's Name

According to the wife, her husband took out two personal loans in her name, one for ₹11.5 lakhs and another for ₹13.56 lakhs. He claimed the funds were for purchasing land but transferred the entire amount to his account for personal use.

Fleeing with Assets

The wife reported that her husband left her at her parental home and later absconded with a car, jewelry, and other belongings. When she requested the car back, he demanded ₹10 lakhs.

Legal Action and Court Proceedings

In March 2024, the wife filed an FIR against him. The husband attempted to have the FIR dismissed, but the court rejected his plea. He subsequently filed for maintenance, and the family court ordered him to pay ₹5,000 monthly along with ₹10,000 for expenses.

High Court's Firm Stance

On April 23, 2026, the Allahabad High Court determined that the husband had concealed his true income through false affidavits and exploited his wife financially. The court emphasized that economic and mental exploitation under the guise of marriage is intolerable.

Heavy Penalty Imposed

The court imposed a fine of ₹15 lakhs on the husband, stating that he had misused the law. It clearly stated that the marital relationship should never serve as a means for exploitation.
