Humayun Kabir Confirms Alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi Ahead of West Bengal Elections

Humayun Kabir, founder of the Janata Unnayan Party, has officially announced a political alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections. During a press conference, Kabir referred to Owaisi as his 'big brother' and emphasized their partnership's role in shaping their electoral strategy. They plan to conduct a series of rallies across key regions in West Bengal, with the first scheduled for April 1. Kabir expressed confidence in Owaisi's participation and reiterated their commitment to a long-term collaboration, extending beyond the upcoming elections. This alliance aims to strengthen their political presence in the state.
 

Political Alliance Announcement

On Wednesday, Humayun Kabir, the founder of the Janata Unnayan Party (JUP), officially announced his political alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of AIMIM, in preparation for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. During a press conference, Kabir referred to Owaisi as his 'big brother' and emphasized that their partnership would guide their electoral strategy.


Kabir stated that this alliance was formed under Owaisi's guidance, and he intends to follow Owaisi's suggestions throughout the campaign. He highlighted that crucial decisions regarding candidate selection and seat distribution would be finalized after discussions with Owaisi. Both parties are committed to contesting the elections together and maintaining unity.


Joint Campaign Plans

Kabir also unveiled a joint campaign plan that includes 20 rallies across West Bengal. The first rally is scheduled for April 1 in Baharampur, where both Kabir and Owaisi will address their supporters. These rallies will take place in key areas such as Murshidabad, North Bengal, Malda, Birbhum, North Dinajpur, Asansol, and Kolkata. Kabir expressed hope that Owaisi would participate in all rallies, especially considering the elections will occur in two phases.


Reiterating his commitment to the alliance, Kabir mentioned that they would adhere to Owaisi's leadership in every aspect of the campaign, ensuring that this partnership remains long-term. He clarified that their collaboration would extend beyond the 2026 elections into future political endeavors. Previously, Owaisi had announced that AIMIM would contest the West Bengal Assembly elections in alliance with Kabir's party. Kabir revealed that his party would contest 182 seats, with AIMIM allocated approximately eight seats. The West Bengal Assembly elections are set for April 23 and April 29, with the counting of votes on May 4.
