The HP State Elite Men’s Boxing Championship 2025 officially kicked off today at Paras Public School in Bhawarna. The event was inaugurated by Palampur Mayor Gopal Nag, who performed a ceremonial lighting of a lamp in front of the Goddess Saraswati idol.
Event Details and Participation
The opening ceremony saw the presence of school director Mahesh Chandra Katoch, Principal Neelam Rana, and various dignitaries. Over 150 boxers from different regions of Himachal Pradesh are set to display their skills in this three-day event, running from December 12 to 14. The competitors, aged between 20 and 40, include both state and national level athletes.

Mayor Gopal Nag praised the school management for organizing such a significant event, highlighting the importance of sports in fostering overall personal development. He assured the Himachal Pradesh Boxing Association of upcoming discussions aimed at enhancing boxing in Palampur and pledged a donation of ₹11,000 to aid in the successful execution of the championship.

The tournament is expected to feature exciting matches, with prominent athletes like Olympian Ashish Chaudhary and national silver medalist Avinash Jamwal participating. The judging panel includes S.K. Shandil, Secretary of the HP Boxing Association, who is also serving as an international referee.
