Jaipur. Governor Haribhau Bagde emphasized that honoring and ensuring the welfare of veterans is a vital part of our tradition and culture. He acknowledged the significant role played by the Indian Army personnel and veterans in maintaining the nation's security and sovereignty. Even after retirement, these soldiers contribute to national development through their discipline, experience, and leadership skills, playing a crucial role in fostering unity, cooperation, and stability within society.

Bagde made these remarks during the Golden Jubilee celebration of the 'Jaipur District Ex-Services League' organized by the District Ex-Servicemen Association on Sunday. He noted that the Indian government has made significant strides in empowering veterans by implementing the long-awaited 'One Rank One Pension' scheme. In Rajasthan, there has been a continuous increase in the respect, security, and pension benefits for veterans and their families. Through the Ex-Servicemen Corporation, over 13,000 veterans have been provided with employment opportunities in the state.

He also mentioned the establishment of legal aid clinics in all district soldier welfare offices to ensure timely assistance for veterans and their dependents. Additionally, the coaching assistance for veterans' children has been raised from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000. Recently, initiatives have been taken to honor over 14,000 war widows across the state.

He referred to veterans as national assets, bringing decades of experience, leadership, discipline, and strategic thinking to society. Their ongoing participation in social sectors strengthens the nation as a whole.

He urged veterans to guide the youth and assist in tackling challenges such as substance abuse. He reiterated the notion that 'once a soldier, always a soldier.' He highlighted the importance of initiatives like the Smart Canteen Card, veteran identification cards, online access to DGR services, and the Touch Portal for pension management, calling for collective efforts to support veterans.
