Every year on December 6, the nation observes Mahaparinirvan Day to honor the remarkable contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The term 'parinirvana' is derived from Sanskrit and signifies liberation or freedom after death, a core principle in Buddhism. This day serves as a reminder of Dr. Ambedkar's enduring legacy.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Babasaheb Ambedkar, on his death anniversary. In a post on social media, Modi expressed, “On Mahaparinirvan Day, I remember Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and constitutional values continue to guide our nation.”
Modi emphasized that Ambedkar inspired generations to uphold human dignity and strengthen democratic values. He stated, “As we work towards building a developed India, his ideals guide us.” The Prime Minister, accompanied by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, offered floral tributes at the statue of Ambedkar located in the Parliament complex.
Mahaparinirvan Day, observed on December 6, marks the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a pivotal figure in shaping modern India. As a jurist, economist, social reformer, and politician, he played a crucial role in drafting the Indian Constitution.
