Home Voting for Senior Citizens and Specially Abled Voters
AMINGAON, March 30: The administration of Kamrup district is set to implement home voting services for absentee voters, specifically targeting senior citizens aged 85 and above, as well as individuals with disabilities, across six Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs).
This home voting initiative will take place from March 30 to April 1, 2026, allowing eligible voters who cannot physically attend polling stations due to age or health issues to cast their votes from home.
Polling teams will visit voters' homes according to a predetermined schedule. All eligible participants are encouraged to be present at their registered addresses on the specified dates and to assist the polling teams.
Second Randomization of EVMs and VVPATs
In preparation for the upcoming General Election for the Assam Legislative Assembly in 2026, the second randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units was successfully executed today at the District Commissioner's Office in Kamrup.
This randomization was conducted using EMS 2.0, ensuring a transparent process for the allocation of EVMs and VVPATs to various assembly constituencies and polling stations. The event was attended by representatives from recognized national and state political parties, reinforcing the commitment to transparency and accountability.
The procedure was overseen by General Observers Devendra Kumar Pandey and Dr. S Bharati Dasan, the District Commissioner and District Election Officer of Kamrup, along with Deba Kumar Mishra, ACS, and the returning officers from the six LACs.

This randomization is a vital step in enhancing the integrity and credibility of the electoral process, with strict adherence to the guidelines set forth by the Election Commission of India.
