In a stunning display of skill, Harsh Singh clinched India's first gold in the men's 60 kg judo category, triumphing over Australia's Joshua Katz with a decisive Waza-Ari score of 10-0 in the final match.

Asmita Dey's Groundbreaking Achievement

Asmita Dey made headlines by winning gold in the women's 48 kg category, defeating Canada's Heidi Quach in an exhilarating golden score match. This victory marked India's inaugural gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games. Asmita's journey has been marked by perseverance; born on March 22, 2003, she faced numerous challenges, including financial struggles, before rising to prominence in Indian judo. Currently a Sub-Inspector with the Uttar Pradesh Police, she has now secured her place in history with this landmark achievement.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games adopted a compact format, which led to the exclusion of several traditional medal-winning sports for India, such as shooting, wrestling, and badminton.
