Historic Times Square Ball Drop to Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary
A Unique Celebration in Times Square
In a historic first, New York City's renowned Times Square Ball will descend on a date other than New Year's Eve, coinciding with nationwide festivities for America's 250th anniversary. This special occasion, occurring on July 3 and 4, will feature eight ceremonial ball drops, each representing midnight in various U.S. time zones and territories as the nation welcomes Independence Day.
The celebrations commenced at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, starting with the initial ball drop for Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Following this, additional drops will take place throughout the day, culminating in the traditional midnight countdown in New York City. Organizers have indicated that the final drop in Times Square will be the highlight of the America 250 celebrations, honoring the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence's signing.
This event signifies a rare deviation from the Times Square Ball's established New Year's Eve tradition, providing visitors with another opportunity to experience one of New York City's most iconic landmarks during the significant July 4 festivities.
