Tushar Kumar, at the age of 23, has made history by becoming the youngest Indian-origin mayor in the UK after his election as Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council on May 13. Shortly after, his mother, Parveen Rani, was elected as Mayor of Hertsmere Borough Council, marking her as the first individual of Indian descent to hold this position. This achievement has garnered significant attention in both the UK and India, especially in Haryana, where the family has its origins. Originally from Rohna village in Sonipat district, they resided in Rohtak for several years before moving to the UK over a decade ago. Tushar's father, Sunil Dahiya, expressed pride in their dual appointments, highlighting it as a significant moment for both the family and the broader Indian community. He noted that they did not have specific political aspirations when they relocated to Britain in 2013, as Tushar was only 10 years old at that time.
