Gill-Sudharsan Partnership Sets New Records

The dynamic duo of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan has etched their names in T20 cricket history by surpassing the legendary pairing of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli for the most century partnerships. During a thrilling chase of 215 runs, they amassed a remarkable 167 runs in just 12.5 overs before Sudharsan was dismissed via a hit-wicket. This partnership marks their 11th century stand in 48 T20 innings, eclipsing Gayle and Kohli's 10-century partnerships in 63 innings.

Record-Breaking Partnership in IPL Playoffs

The 167-run partnership between Gill and Sudharsan has set a new record for the highest partnership in IPL playoff history, surpassing the previous record of 159 runs held by Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay against RCB in the 2011 final.

Gill Achieves Milestone with 700-Run Season

With his century, Gill has also achieved the milestone of a 700-run season, becoming the fourth player to record two seasons with over 700 runs in IPL history. In 15 matches, he has accumulated 722 runs at an average of 48.13 and a strike rate of 163.71, which includes one century and six fifties. He previously achieved a 700-plus run season in 2023 with 890 runs. Gill joins the ranks of Virat Kohli, Sai Sudharsan, and Chris Gayle, who have also accomplished this feat.

Captain Gill's Century Achievements

This century marks Gill's fifth in the IPL and his second as captain. He now holds the record for the fastest century by a GT player, surpassing his own 49-ball record against MI in the 2023 Qualifier 2. Additionally, he is the first captain to score a century in IPL playoff history.

Gujarat Titans Secure Final Spot with Record Chase

With this victory, the Gujarat Titans have advanced to the IPL final, where they will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Batting first, RR posted a total of 214/6 in 20 overs, thanks to a stellar performance from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 96 runs off 47 balls, and Donovan Ferreira, who contributed 38 runs off just 11 balls.

In response, the Titans chased down the target of 215 runs, led by skipper Shubman Gill's impressive 104 runs off 53 balls, alongside Sudharsan's 58 runs off 32 balls. This chase marks the highest target ever chased in IPL playoff history, surpassing the previous record of 204 runs set by Punjab Kings against Mumbai Indians in last year's Qualifier 2. It also stands as GT's highest run chase in IPL, exceeding their 204-run chase against Delhi Capitals in 2025.
