In a groundbreaking move, the FIFA World Cup is set to be co-hosted by three nations for the first time in its 96-year history: the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Each country will hold its own opening ceremony, occurring an hour and a half prior to their respective first matches. Mexico will kick off the festivities.
Match Schedule for the Opening Games
Mexico will face South Africa in the inaugural match on Thursday at 12:30 AM IST. Following that, Canada will compete against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday at the same time. The USA will begin its journey against Paraguay on Saturday at 6:30 AM IST.
Opening Ceremony Performers
The spectacular opening ceremonies will be produced by Marco Balich, renowned for his work as a creative director for various Olympic events. Each ceremony will highlight the distinct culture and creativity of the host nations, emphasizing the theme of football as a unifying force that transcends borders.
The lineup of performers includes international stars such as Shakira, Alejandro Fernandez, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, and Lila Downs, among others.
Duration of the Ceremonies
The opening ceremony in Mexico City is planned to last 16 minutes and 30 seconds, while the ceremonies in Toronto and Los Angeles will each be 13 minutes long. Adhering to FIFA's stringent regulations, the schedule is designed to ensure players have ample time for warm-ups and to take the field punctually for their matches.
