New Delhi: On Monday, Jwala, a Namibian cheetah, gave birth to five adorable cubs at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, bringing India's cheetah population to a total of 53, as announced by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav.


This joyful event follows closely on the heels of another significant birth, where cheetah Gamini welcomed four cubs at the same location.


Jwala, a seasoned mother, has successfully given birth for the third time, marking a proud moment for Project Cheetah. With this latest litter, the number of thriving Indian-born cubs has now reached 33, representing the 10th successful cheetah litter in India—a remarkable achievement in the nation's cheetah conservation efforts, Yadav shared on X.


The minister emphasized that this success is a testament to the unwavering dedication, expertise, and hard work of veterinarians and field staff who are committed to wildlife conservation.
