Mohammad Zaid Malik Takes Charge at NIA


Srinagar: In a groundbreaking move, Mohammad Zaid Malik has made history by becoming the inaugural officer from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) to oversee a branch of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) within the Union Territory.


Malik's appointment to this prestigious national agency took place on September 29, as part of a deputation.


Having joined the JK Police Service in 2001, he is set to serve in this role for an initial period of four years, with the possibility of extending his tenure to seven years.


As per a directive from the NIA headquarters issued on Tuesday, Malik has been designated as the Superintendent of Police (NIA) at the agency's branch office located in Jammu.


With over twenty years of experience in law enforcement and counter-terrorism efforts, Malik has previously led at least three police districts throughout his career.
