Attempted Rituals at the Taj Mahal

Agra (Uttar Pradesh), August 3 - Members of the All India Hindu Mahasabha attempted to enter the iconic Taj Mahal to perform a ritual, claiming it is actually a Shiva temple. However, police intervened to prevent their entry. A police official reported on Tuesday that they received information about 11 women associated with the organization planning to conduct a water offering at the monument on the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan. The police acted promptly, redirecting them to perform the ritual at the Rajeshwar Temple instead.

Meera Rathore, the district president of the Hindu Mahasabha, asserted that the Taj Mahal is indeed a Shiva temple, arguing that if qawwalis can be performed there, then worship should also be permitted. She mentioned that while the police have currently halted their activities, the organization plans to attempt to bring offerings to the Taj Mahal again on the upcoming Monday of Shravan. Over the years, members of the Hindu Mahasabha have repeatedly claimed that the Taj Mahal is a Shiva temple, referred to as 'Tejo Mahalaya,' and have tried to enter the premises for worship, only to be stopped by law enforcement each time.
