Guwahati, May 12: Following Himanta Biswa Sarma's swearing-in for a second consecutive term as Chief Minister of Assam, his family expressed that this milestone is a testament to both the people's support and his unwavering commitment to the state's progress.
Mrinalini Devi, Sarma's mother, who attended the ceremony in a wheelchair, shared her joy, stating, "I am very happy today. I want to share this joy with everyone, especially the youth. This happiness belongs to all." She emphasized her son's dedication to serving the state and contributing to national development, adding, "My blessings are always with him."
Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, Sarma's wife, attributed his success to the goodwill of the people and described the moment as humbling for their family. "His hard work, along with the blessings of the Almighty and the people of Assam, has brought him to this position," she remarked.
She noted that Sarma has consistently lived a life akin to that of an ordinary citizen, working diligently while earning the trust of the people in his vision for development. "Today, we feel proud and humbled as the people of Assam have once again placed their trust in him, believing he can achieve even more," she stated.
Bhuyan Sharma expressed her unwavering support for her husband, hoping that Assam will soon rank among the top five states in the country.
Sarma's children, Nandil and Sukanya, both engaged in higher education, also shared their pride in their father's accomplishment. Nandil remarked, "In the past five years, Papa has done remarkable work as Chief Minister, and we hope he continues to serve the people of Assam effectively."
Sukanya added that despite his busy schedule, Sarma has always prioritized family. "He works tirelessly for Assam's development, often discussing it even in his sleep. However, we have never felt neglected; he has always attended to our needs," she concluded.
