Celebrating Literary Achievements in Himachal Pradesh


KULLU: Esteemed writers from Sundernagar, Gangaram Rahi and Pawan Chauhan, have been awarded the Gurukul Samman 2026 by the Gurukul Bahumukhi Shiksha Sansthan in Kullu, acknowledging their remarkable contributions to Hindi literature.


Rahi received accolades for his impactful work in historical fiction, while Chauhan was recognized for his extensive contributions to children's literature. Both authors, hailing from Sundernagar, have significantly enriched the literary scene in Himachal Pradesh with their varied works.


Rahi's literary portfolio includes 19 novels and over 400 short stories, celebrated for their ability to vividly portray historical and social themes through compelling storytelling. His notable novel, 'Bhairon Kabhi Nahin Mara,' along with other writings, has garnered him numerous accolades at both national and state levels, establishing him as a leading figure in historical and socially themed narratives.


Chauhan has excelled in poetry, short stories, and children's literature, with eleven published books that encompass themes of heritage and tourism, alongside edited collections. His works are included in educational syllabi across schools and universities and have been translated into various Indian languages. His dedication to children's literature and other genres has also earned him multiple awards.
