Rohit Thakur, the Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh, recently visited the PM Shri Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Government Senior Secondary School (School of Excellence) located in Dalhousie. During his visit, he assessed the preparations for its transformation into a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School. He engaged in comprehensive discussions with senior officials from the Education Department and provided essential directives to facilitate the government's notification implementation.

While at the school, the Minister interacted positively with students, motivating them to embrace discipline, strive for quality education, and focus on continuous personal development. He announced that the Dalhousie School has been officially recognized as one of the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools by the state government. A budget of ₹5 crore has been allocated for this initiative, with ₹2 crore already disbursed to the Public Works Department. Additionally, the integration of Lohali Primary School and Bus Stand Primary School into the Dalhousie campus was confirmed, allowing primary classes to be held on the same grounds.

Thakur also mentioned that the government would thoughtfully consider the request made by former Education Minister Asha Kumari to reopen Bhalei College. He assured that all educational needs within the Dalhousie constituency would be addressed appropriately.

Regarding the long-standing recruitment of NTT trained teachers, the Minister revealed that the state government has sought special rule relaxations from the Centre, taking into account the unique geographical challenges of Himachal Pradesh. Approximately 6,200 candidates have been proposed for NTT teacher positions.

On the topic of the NEET paper leak incident, Thakur expressed that it was "extremely unfortunate and concerning." He emphasized the necessity for collaboration between the Centre and the state to avert such occurrences in the future. While the Centre has initiated the formation of a task force, Himachal Pradesh is seriously contemplating the adoption of computer-based examinations. He reaffirmed the state's commitment to a “zero tolerance” policy to protect the interests of deserving students.

Former Education Minister Asha Kumari expressed her gratitude to Rohit Thakur for his visit. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Zila Parishad Chairperson Rekha Thakur, SDM Dalhousie Anil Bhardwaj, senior officials from the PWD and Jal Shakti Department, Deputy Director (Higher Education) Vikas Mahajan, Bhalei Temple Committee President Kamal Thakur, Block Congress Committee President Amit Sharma, senior Congress leader Sahab Singh, along with principals, teachers, and local community leaders.
