Nandita Gupta, the Chief Electoral Officer for Himachal Pradesh, led a review meeting today at the NIC video conference hall to discuss the ongoing special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the district.


She commended the progress made in mapping and verification under the 2002 intensive revision, which is based on the electoral roll dated January 1, 2025. The verification rates are impressive, with 93.83% completed in Churah constituency, 92.30% in Bharmaur, 86.20% in Chamba, 90.60% in Dalhousie, and 89.75% in Bhatiyat. Gupta instructed all Assistant Electoral Officers (SDMs) to ensure the mapping process is finalized.


Gupta highlighted the importance of assisting voters who have not submitted required documents or have received notices due to discrepancies. Booth Level Officers will visit homes to gather necessary paperwork. She also urged officials to focus on online hearings and set up special camps at the panchayat level. Additionally, she called for the verification of voter records for employees and workers displaced by hydropower projects, as well as ensuring the inclusion of nomadic families and migrants from other states.


The Chief Electoral Officer reviewed cases concerning temporary settlements and emphasized that no eligible voter should be excluded from the electoral process. She interacted with district officials, gathered feedback, and provided directives to enhance voter facilitation.


Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer Mukesh Repswal welcomed the attendees and provided key updates about the district. Additional District Magistrate and Assistant Electoral Officer Bharmaur Vikas Sharma, along with Assistant Electoral Officers from Pangi, Dalhousie, Bhatiyat, and Tissa, participated virtually. Assistant Commissioner Manmohan Singh, SDM Chamba Chirag Sharma, Tehsildar (Election) Anup Dogra, and Naib Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar were also in attendance.
