Himachal Pradesh's Chief Electoral Officer Inspects Voter Facilities in Chamba
Inspection of Polling Stations in Chamba
Nandita Gupta, the Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal Pradesh, conducted a visit to the Sahu Sub-Tehsil within the Chamba Assembly constituency today. Her visit included an evaluation of the facilities available at Polling Stations Padhar-1 and Padhar-2, focusing on the amenities provided to voters.
During her assessment, Gupta reviewed the status of voter list mapping as part of the 2002 Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which is based on the electoral roll dated January 1, 2025. She noted that Padhar-1 had achieved a 99% completion rate, while Padhar-2 was at 87%. She urged officials to expedite the remaining tasks.
Gupta emphasized the importance of regular meetings between the Assistant Electoral Officer, SDM, and Booth Level Officers. She highlighted the need for ongoing communication with residents, particularly in remote regions and among tribal and Gujjar communities, to ensure comprehensive voter participation. She insisted that the SIR process adhere strictly to established guidelines.
Additionally, she instructed that information regarding the necessary documents for voter identification and list updates, as mandated by the Election Commission of India, should be widely shared with the public.
The inspection was accompanied by SDM Chirag Sharma, Tehsildar (Election) Anup Dogra, Naib Tehsildar (Election) Sanjay Kumar, and other officials from various departments.
