Himachal Pradesh University Launches Distance Education Programs for July 2026
Launch of Distance Education Programs
The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) has unveiled its prospectus for the Distance and Online Education Centre for the upcoming July 2026 session. This announcement was made by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal, accompanied by key university officials including Prof. Pradeep Kumar (Dean of Academic Affairs), Prof. Narendra Sankhyan (Registrar), and others.
Since its inception in January 2025, the Centre has successfully hosted two sessions—July 2025 and January 2026—drawing students from Himachal Pradesh and beyond. Prof. Bansal stated that the Centre aims to enhance access to higher education for all learners. Currently, the online programs cover five disciplines: MCA, MBA, M.A. in History, M.A. in Economics, and M.A. in Political Science. The increasing enrollment numbers indicate a strong interest from both working professionals and students eager to earn degrees while maintaining their jobs.
The Vice Chancellor pointed out that the MBA program has a capacity of 500 seats, while the MCA program accommodates 200 students, and the M.A. programs have no limit on intake. To alleviate financial strain, the university has set affordable tuition fees. He noted a significant enrollment from both government and private sector employees, and under UGC regulations, students are now permitted to pursue two degrees at once. All examinations are conducted online in both Hindi and English, and no No Objection Certificate (NOC) is necessary for employed candidates.
Prof. Vishal Sood announced that admissions for the July 2026 session are now open via the Samarth portal, with the application deadline set for September 1, 2026. He also mentioned that the help desk (9418141564) is actively responding to inquiries, highlighting the rising interest in online education among students looking to balance their studies with work commitments.
