Elections Announced for Urban Local Bodies in Himachal Pradesh


Shimla - The State Election Commission has officially announced the upcoming elections for 51 Urban Local Bodies throughout Himachal Pradesh. This includes 4 Municipal Corporations (Dharamshala, Palampur, Mandi, and Solan), along with 25 Municipal Councils and 22 Nagar Panchayats. Voting is set to take place on May 17, 2026, with polls closing at 3:00 PM.


Important Dates



  • Nomination Filing: April 29, April 30, and May 2

  • Scrutiny of Nominations: May 4

  • Withdrawal of Nominations: Until May 6

  • Polling: May 17 (until 3:00 PM)

    Election results will be announced on May 31, 2026.


The Commission has indicated that Panchayat elections for rural areas will be organized separately, with dates yet to be determined. Currently, the Model Code of Conduct is applicable solely to the four Municipal Corporations and other urban bodies, following the election notification issued today.
