Intensified Crackdown on Drug Trafficking

In a decisive move against drug-related issues, Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unveiled a robust anti-drug strategy during an Assembly session. The government aims to pinpoint employees within various departments who may be facilitating drug trafficking or compromising sensitive information.

The Chief Minister stated that a dedicated list will be compiled of those suspected of aiding drug operations, undermining police efforts, or leaking confidential data. He emphasized, "Anyone involved in this illicit trade, regardless of their department, will face consequences."

234 Panchayats Identified as High-Risk Areas

Sukhu informed the Assembly that 234 panchayats have been classified as 'high-risk zones' due to prevalent drug supply and trafficking activities. These regions will see increased surveillance, collaborative operations between police and administration, and community awareness initiatives.

Consequences for Information Leaks

The Chief Minister raised alarms about instances where information regarding police raids is leaked to traffickers, suggesting internal corruption. He warned that any employee found guilty of leaking information will face immediate termination and potential criminal charges.

A Comprehensive Approach to Combat Drugs

To bolster the anti-drug campaign, the government is initiating a Special Integrity Scan, which will involve thorough reviews of departments to identify any compromised personnel.

Sukhu noted that the strategy will extend beyond law enforcement, incorporating administrative efforts, community involvement, and technological advancements.

Key Strategies in the Anti-Drug Campaign

The initiative will include digital monitoring in high-risk panchayats, mapping of drug trafficking routes across districts, financial investigations into trafficking networks, and prevention programs in schools and colleges.
