Dharamshala: On Wednesday, the Himachal Pradesh government announced a major reshuffle involving senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, introducing new appointments in crucial law enforcement roles. This transfer was approved based on recommendations from the Civil Services Board and was communicated by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena.

As per the official announcement, Ms. Rani Bindu (IPS: 2006), who has recently returned from a central deputation, will now serve as the Inspector General of Police (Crime) for Himachal Pradesh, with her office located in Shimla.

Dr. D.K. Chaudhary (IPS: 2008), who is currently the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Crime) in Shimla, has been reassigned as the Principal of the Police Training College in Daroh, Kangra district.

Ms. Soumya Sambasivan (IPS: 2010), who has been serving as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Central Range) in Mandi and also held additional responsibilities as Principal of the Police Training College in Daroh, will now take on the role of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Northern Range) in Dharamshala, succeeding the previous officeholder.

Additionally, Shri Rahul Nath (IPS: 2010), who was the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau in Shimla, has been transferred to Mandi to serve as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Central Range).

Shri Arvind Chaudhary (IPS: 2017), previously the Superintendent of Police at the Police Training College in Daroh, will now be stationed at Police Headquarters in Shimla as Superintendent of Police (Leave Reserve).

The notification indicated that the officers will officially assume their new roles following the conclusion of the ongoing Vidhan Sabha session.

This reshuffle is perceived as part of the government's broader strategy to enhance police administration and bolster law enforcement in sensitive areas of the state, particularly in Kangra, Dharamshala, and Mandi, which have faced challenges related to law and order as well as recent weather-related incidents.

Political analysts suggest that such mid-year reshuffles are often designed to balance experience with new roles, ensuring that essential training institutions and operational ranges are effectively managed. With this new lineup of appointments, the government aims to strengthen crime investigation, anti-corruption initiatives, and regional policing throughout Himachal Pradesh.
