The government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Himachal Pradesh has ignited controversy by initiating legal proceedings against lawyers who were peacefully protesting for their rightful demands. This action has been widely criticized as an effort to suppress dissent rather than engage in constructive dialogue.

Advocate Vishwachakshu, who serves as the BJP's state media co-incharge, condemned the government's actions, labeling them a "murder of democracy." He expressed, “Rather than addressing the issues raised by the lawyers, the Sukhu administration has chosen to file FIRs. This indicates a state of panic and a dictatorial approach. The Congress party has a history of undermining democratic principles – from Indira Gandhi's Emergency to Sukhu's current micro-Emergency in Himachal.”

He added, “Lawyers reflect societal values. When they highlight the government's shortcomings, the government attempts to silence them. The BJP stands resolutely with the legal community. We vehemently oppose this oppression and call for the immediate withdrawal of all charges.”
