Himachal Pradesh Government Enforces Dress Code and Social Media Guidelines for Employees
New Guidelines for Government Employees
On Wednesday, the Himachal Pradesh administration released a directive aimed at its government employees, advising them against making public statements on social media regarding official policies. The advisory also prohibits the unauthorized sharing of official information.
In addition to social media restrictions, the state has mandated a formal dress code for its employees, emphasizing that a respectable appearance is essential for upholding the integrity of public service.
A message from Sanjay Gupta, the acting chief secretary of the Department of Personnel, highlighted that employees should refrain from voicing opinions on government initiatives or making political or religious remarks on any public platforms, including personal social media accounts and vlogs.
The communication further clarified that engaging in discussions that could be seen as critical of government policies is not allowed, with disciplinary measures outlined for those who fail to comply.
Moreover, the Department of Personnel specified that male employees are expected to wear formal attire, such as shirts and trousers, along with suitable footwear. Casual wear, including jeans and sandals, is discouraged, particularly during official duties and court appearances.
Female employees are encouraged to don sarees, suits, or other formal attire that conveys professionalism and modesty, as per the communication.
