The ongoing turmoil in the Middle East is raising alarms about energy supplies in regions like Himachal Pradesh. Although the state currently has adequate petrol and diesel supplies, officials have noted that these reserves are only expected to last for approximately 15 days, prompting concerns about future availability.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored. He has instructed the Chief Secretary to conduct daily assessments of the fuel status. Currently, the CM reassured that there is no immediate shortage of LPG, petrol, or diesel, but the evolving international landscape could pose challenges ahead.
While the supply of domestic LPG remains stable, there have been reports of shortages in commercial gas cylinders across various regions of the state. The government is aware of these issues and is actively monitoring the situation.
In political discussions, the Chief Minister addressed the Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, who called for an investigation into the Himcare scheme by a sitting judge. Sukhu clarified that such inquiries are typically conducted by government agencies rather than judges.
In response to claims that development efforts are disproportionately focused on the Dehra vidhansabha constituency, the CM asserted that development is being pursued evenly throughout Himachal Pradesh. He accused the BJP of making unfounded allegations for political gain, stating that the opposition is raising these issues without factual support.
