Himachal Pradesh Education Board Chairman Encourages Students to Embrace New Year Resolutions
New Year Resolutions for Students
Dharamshala — With the arrival of 2026 on the horizon, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board, has urged students to kick off the new year by adopting five impactful resolutions aimed at enhancing their personal growth and future achievements.
Dr. Sharma highlighted that the beginning of a new year should transcend mere celebrations, serving as a catalyst for students to explore new opportunities and foster self-improvement.
Five Key Resolutions for Students
- Reduce Mobile Usage — Set aside mobile devices at least one hour before sleep to safeguard both sleep quality and eye health.
- Daily Reading Habit — Cultivate a reading routine of at least 30 minutes each day, extending beyond textbooks to include stories, comics, or educational literature. The Board has recently introduced The Visionary to promote this initiative.
- Nutritious Eating — Steer clear of junk food and prioritize fruits, vegetables, and home-cooked meals. Dr. Sharma, a medical professional, emphasized that proper nutrition is crucial for immunity and overall growth.
- Engage in Outdoor Activities — Participate in outdoor games to enhance physical fitness and social interaction. He referenced WHO recommendations, stating that children should engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.
- Embrace Good Manners and Values — Foster habits of gratitude, respect for elders, and assistance to others. Dr. Sharma noted that these practices are essential for character development and should be lifelong commitments.
“Resolutions Shape Character”
Dr. Sharma remarked that acquiring new skills—be it vocabulary, painting, music, or sports—can significantly enhance confidence and prepare children for a competitive environment. He also encouraged students to adopt a disciplined routine, emphasizing the importance of adequate sleep for mental growth.
In closing, Dr. Sharma stated, “The most vital resolution is to uphold courtesy and values. Expressing gratitude, respecting elders, and aiding others are habits that mold character and should be maintained throughout life.”
