Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj has declared plans to once again bring up the issue of seeking relief under the Forest Conservation Act (FCA) with the Central government.

He mentioned that all Himachal Pradesh MPs will convene with Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav during the first week of September to advocate for prompt action.

Bhardwaj emphasized that the push for FCA relaxation will be vigorous, aiming to provide timely relief to the residents of Himachal, particularly those impacted by recent natural disasters.

“We will not only address this issue in Parliament but also ensure that the Centre acknowledges the real conditions in Himachal,” he stated. The MP also noted that the state has previously contacted the Centre, requesting that the recent calamity in Himachal be recognized as a national disaster.

He added that if all MPs, regardless of party affiliation, support this demand, it would bolster the state's case for financial and policy aid from the Union government.

Discussing the extensive damage caused by floods and landslides, Bhardwaj highlighted that rescue and relief efforts are ongoing, coordinated by the NDRF, SDRF, Army, and local authorities to ensure the safety of those stranded.

Additionally, Bhardwaj urged the state government to utilize disaster relief funds wisely. He pointed out that the Centre has already allocated ₹2,500 crore, which must be spent effectively and transparently to facilitate rehabilitation. “The emphasis should be on long-term reconstruction and safety measures, rather than just temporary fixes. This is crucial for safeguarding lives and livelihoods,” Bhardwaj stressed.
