On the evening of July 31, 2025, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, attended a special screening of the short film 'The Last Drop' at his official residence, Oak Over, in Shimla.
The film, which stars Arunoday Sharma, known for his role in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC), addresses the urgent global issue of melting glaciers and climate change. Directed by Dr. Paras Prakash, this 25-minute film was officially premiered on August 1 during The Great Himalayan Water Festival held in Shimla.
During the screening, the Chief Minister praised the film and expressed his hopes for its success. He highlighted that global warming poses one of the most significant challenges of our time, necessitating collective action to mitigate its extensive effects. Sukhu commended the creative efforts aimed at raising awareness about climate issues, particularly among the youth.
He noted that Himachal Pradesh is already witnessing the negative impacts of global warming. To address potential threats to life and property, the state government is implementing an early warning system (EWS) designed to improve real-time monitoring, forecasting, and timely alerts, thereby facilitating proactive measures to minimize disaster-related damages.
Also present at the event were Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Arunoday Sharma's parents, Jagdish Sharma and Mamta Paul, along with members of the film's production team.
