MANDI: Hill Thrill Agro Processor Pvt. Ltd., a food processing enterprise located in the scenic hills of Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, has garnered national acclaim by winning the esteemed 'Fastest Growing Indian Company Excellence Award' at a prestigious event in New Delhi.

The company, situated in Badu village under the Chhachyot panchayat within the Gohar sub-division, represents a significant milestone for rural entrepreneurship in the region.

This accolade was awarded during the International Achievers Conference, attended by industry leaders, senior officials, and entrepreneurs from across India. Directors Ravinder Kumar and Hira Mani Sharma accepted the award, attributing their success to the dedication of their workforce, farmer partners, and the steadfast support from the local community.

Chairman Bhagirath Chauhan expressed his congratulations to the entire team, emphasizing that this recognition has firmly established Mandi and Himachal Pradesh on India's agro-processing map.

From Humble Beginnings to National Fame

Hill Thrill's journey commenced in 2009 when visionary entrepreneur Bhagirath Chauhan, alongside his partner Ilam Deen Ali from Hamirpur, initiated a small venture called Gold Home. This modest start in the hills of Mandi evolved into a structured and ambitious business.

Bhagirath Chauhan nurtured his sons, Ravinder and Pushpraj Chauhan, while also bringing in Hira Mani Sharma and Nitin Sharma, forming a well-rounded team with both technical and managerial expertise.

Establishment and Research Development

In 2018, the founders officially established Hill Thrill Agro Processor Pvt. Ltd., transitioning from the previous Gold Home structure. Over the next two years, the company made substantial investments in research, product enhancement, hygiene standards, and packaging, laying the groundwork for a stronger market presence.

In 2022, Bhagirath Chauhan and Ilam Deen Ali reacquired Gold Home, completing a full circle in their entrepreneurial journey and reinforcing their integrated business model.

The company has built its identity around value-added products derived from the rich horticultural resources of Mandi and other regions in Himachal Pradesh.

Notable products include traditional apple pickle, lingar pickle, bamboo pickle, galgal juice with natural preservatives, and aloe vera-based health drinks, all processed with low salt, no artificial preservatives, and natural preservation methods, positioning the brand in the premium natural foods market.

Resilience During COVID-19 and National Expansion

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hill Thrill utilized the downtime to enhance internal systems, optimize supply chains, and refine product designs. Collaborations with established brands like Bikano and digital expansion through platforms like IndiaMart enabled the company to establish a nationwide distribution network.

Diversification and Manufacturing Growth

Hill Thrill has also ventured into producing licensed fruit-based wines using locally sourced apples and seasonal fruits, significantly adding value to Himachal's horticulture sector.

In 2021, the company launched its independent manufacturing facility, facilitating direct sales to distributors and enhancing quality control throughout the production process.

Investment and Community Impact

The promoters invested personal capital and secured a loan of around ₹1.3 crore to develop processing infrastructure in rural Mandi. Growth was further bolstered by horticulture grants, subsidy programs, and improved logistics.

Hill Thrill has become a cornerstone of the local rural economy in Mandi and its surrounding areas, providing a stable market for over 400 farmers and employing more than 100 local residents. The company also conducts vocational and technical training programs in rural communities, ensuring fair pricing and stable income for farmers.

Production operations are overseen by HS Guleria, a former HPMC technologist with over 45 years of experience, adhering to chemical-free processing, low sodium formulations, and innovative packaging and product presentation.
