Agartala, July 28: In a significant move to tackle the longstanding interstate boundary conflict, senior officials from Tripura and Mizoram are set to convene a high-level meeting in Agartala during the first week of August 2026.

This meeting, initiated by Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha, aims to gather essential officials from both states to explore a permanent and mutually agreeable resolution to the border dispute.

As per official reports, the gathering will include the Home Secretaries of both states, the Revenue Secretary of Tripura, the District Magistrate of North Tripura, the relevant Superintendent of Police, along with other senior civil and police officials from both regions.

The upcoming discussions are a follow-up to the constructive talks between Chief Minister Manik Saha and his counterpart from Mizoram during the recent North Eastern Council (NEC) meeting in Shillong, where both leaders committed to advancing dialogue on the border issue through ongoing administrative collaboration.

During the Agartala meeting, officials are anticipated to address critical topics such as border demarcation, administrative cooperation, law and order maintenance, challenges faced by border residents, and other interstate administrative concerns.

The Tripura government has indicated that the efforts to resolve the boundary dispute have gained renewed momentum under Chief Minister Manik Saha's leadership. Both state governments have reaffirmed their dedication to resolving the long-standing issue through dialogue, cooperation, and goodwill, aiming for a peaceful and broadly acceptable resolution.
