A principal's swift decision during a severe flash flood in Nepal has saved the lives of hundreds of children. At the Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in the Bidur area of Nuwakot district, classes were in session when a warning about an impending flood was issued. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Principal Rajendra Dawadi acted immediately to evacuate the school.

He promptly halted classes, rang the school bell, and instructed students to move to safety. At that moment, over 900 students and 16 staff members were present on campus. Within a short time, everyone was evacuated to higher ground.

Life-Saving Decision Made in Just 14 Minutes

According to reports, the principal received a serious flood warning through the school accountant. The river's water was rising rapidly, indicating a situation far more dangerous than a typical flood.

Dawadi wasted no time assessing the situation. He immediately activated the emergency bell and, with the help of teachers, began evacuating students. He also contacted school buses to prevent them from arriving at the school. Students were sent to elevated areas, while many were picked up by their families.

It was reported that the principal had only about 14 minutes to clear the school.
