Heightened Security Measures in Jammu Following Suspected Border Infiltration
Intensified Search Operations by BSF
Jammu: On Thursday, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel intensified their search efforts along the international border in response to suspected infiltration activities in the R.S. Pura sector of Jammu district.
The operation commenced late Wednesday night and persisted into the early hours of Thursday.
Troopers conducted thorough searches in nearby villages, agricultural areas, and dense foliage adjacent to the border fence.
A BSF official stated, “An alert for infiltration was issued across the R.S. Pura and Arnia sectors, leading to increased night patrols and enhanced surveillance measures. Additional troops, canine units, and thermal imaging technology were deployed to monitor any border movements.”
Drones were also utilized to assist ground forces in surveying challenging terrains. This surge in activity is linked to ongoing fears that terrorists may attempt to exploit weak points along the border, particularly with national events and festivals approaching.
Residents living close to the zero line have been urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security post.
The BSF official noted that while there were no reports of contact or gunfire during the operation, the alert status would remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
“All border outposts are on high alert, and collaboration with other intelligence and security agencies has been enhanced to ensure a strong multi-layered defense system,” the official added.
Following the tragic April 22 attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, J&K Police and security forces have ramped up anti-terror operations targeting terrorists, their associates, and sympathizers to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
