Heavy Rainfall Continues in Rajasthan as Monsoon Gains Strength

Rajasthan is currently facing heavy rainfall as the southwest monsoon becomes more active, with the India Meteorological Department predicting continued rain in various regions. Significant rainfall has already been recorded, leading to waterlogging on roads and in urban areas. Schools in Bharatpur have closed due to the weather, and there have been reports of structural damage in Alwar. The IMD forecasts that the monsoon will remain active for the next week, with varying intensities of rain expected. This situation raises concerns about flooding and public safety across the state.

Monsoon Activity Intensifies in Rajasthan

Jaipur, August 8 – The southwest monsoon has become active again, leading to heavy rainfall across various regions in Rajasthan. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted significant rainfall in several areas of the state in the coming days. According to the department, moderate to heavy rain was recorded over the past 24 hours until Saturday morning. The highest rainfall was noted at nine centimeters in Thana Gazi of Alwar and in Sadulpur/Rajgarh of Churu.

During this period, areas like Dausa and Pilani received eight centimeters of rain, while Kotkasim, Didwana, and Sujangarh recorded seven centimeters each. Additionally, five centimeters of rainfall was observed in Bhuhana, Malsisar, and Chirawa of Jhunjhunu, as well as in Behror of Alwar. The capital city of Jaipur, along with Bharatpur, Sikar, and Bikaner, also experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. On Saturday, Churu saw 11 millimeters, Pilani eight millimeters, Dausa 7.5 millimeters, and Sangaria six millimeters of rain.

According to the weather center in Jaipur, the monsoon is expected to remain active in most parts of eastern Rajasthan for the next week, with ongoing rainfall activities. The department indicated that light to moderate rain is likely in some areas on August 9. Furthermore, from August 10 to 12, an increase in rainfall activities is anticipated in parts of southeastern and eastern Rajasthan, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain.

The department also mentioned that light to moderate rain could occur in some regions over the next three to four days, except for the bordering areas of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.

Rainfall activities are expected to decrease in western Rajasthan from August 14 and in eastern Rajasthan from August 15. Meanwhile, heavy rain has caused waterlogging in several areas along the Jaipur-Delhi National Highway, particularly in Kotputli-Behror. Urban areas have also seen water entering markets and homes.

Due to the continuous heavy rainfall, schools and anganwadi centers in Bharatpur remained closed. In Govindgarh, Alwar, the roof of a house collapsed, but fortunately, there were no reports of injuries. Churu also experienced rain from Saturday morning, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas and several colonies.

Water accumulation at both entrances of DB Hospital caused inconvenience for patients and staff.
