Heavy Rainfall Alert Issued for Five Districts in Odisha
Severe Weather Warning in Odisha
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in five districts of Odisha on Saturday. Officials reported that the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has intensified.
This warning specifically affects the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Sambalpur, and Sonepur.
According to the weather bulletin released by the department, the low-pressure system located over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjacent northern Odisha-West Bengal coasts has remained in the same area since 8:30 AM today, July 4, 2026. It is expected to move in a west-northwest direction over the next three days, affecting northern Odisha and northern Chhattisgarh.
The Bhubaneswar-based weather office has also issued an orange alert for eight additional districts, including Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar. Furthermore, a yellow alert has been announced for the remaining 17 districts in the state regarding rainfall.
