HCA Official Accuses Disruptors of Targeting TG20 League Amid Legal Controversies

T Shesh Narayan, former Secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, has raised alarms about attempts to disrupt the TG20 League due to legal challenges from the Telangana Cricket Association. He asserts that these actions are detrimental to the HCA, which operates under a constitution approved by the Supreme Court. Narayan highlights the financial impact of these legal notices, including sponsor withdrawals, while maintaining confidence in the league's success. The situation, he warns, could escalate to other states if not addressed promptly.

Concerns Raised Over TG20 League Disruptions

T Shesh Narayan, the former Secretary and spokesperson for the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), has expressed concerns that certain individuals are attempting to undermine the ongoing TG20 League by questioning its permissions. He indicated that these actions are being driven by specific elements within the state that are acting against the interests of the HCA.

Legal Notices Issued by Telangana Cricket Association

Earlier this month, the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) sent legal notices to several celebrities, including actors Vijay Deverakonda and Venkatesh Daggubati, as well as cricketers Mohammed Siraj, Ambati Rayudu, and Tilak Varma. The TCA claims that the TG20 League is being conducted without the necessary approvals from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). TCA General Secretary Gurava Reddy stated that the association opposes the involvement of celebrities in what it deems an 'illegal' and 'unapproved' league organized by the HCA.

HCA's Defense of the TG20 League

In response, Narayan emphasized that the HCA operates under a constitution sanctioned by the Supreme Court, asserting that any amendments to the rules or structure require court approval. He stated, 'Certain elements within the state are engaging in activities harmful to the HCA. As a founding member of the BCCI, we cannot alter our constitution without the Supreme Court's consent.'

Allegations of Misuse and Financial Impact

Narayan further accused some individuals of exploiting the situation to disrupt the TG20 League by raising questions about its permissions. He urged that any grievances regarding the BCCI should be directed to the board itself. 'Some people are taking advantage of the situation, claiming there are no permissions. If they have issues with the BCCI, they should address them directly,' he remarked.

He warned that if the situation in Hyderabad is not addressed promptly, it could extend to other states. The HCA has already lodged a police complaint and is contemplating legal action, citing financial losses due to the legal notices. Narayan noted that some sponsors have withdrawn their support, yet he remains confident in the league's success, stating, 'Despite these challenges, the TG20 League is one of the most successful in the country, reflecting Hyderabad's deep-rooted passion for cricket.'
