Espionage Allegations Against YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra

Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber from Haryana, is currently embroiled in espionage allegations. The travel vlogger, known for her channel 'Travel With Jyoti', is facing increased scrutiny after Meta suspended her Instagram account. This action follows claims of her alleged involvement with a spy ring linked to Pakistan.

On May 17, Jyoti was arrested in Hisar on charges of espionage for Pakistan. This incident has sparked significant concern within both political and digital communities. At 33 years old, Jyoti boasts over 377,000 subscribers on YouTube and is accused of transmitting sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence agencies. Her arrest is part of a broader investigation into espionage activities spanning Haryana and Punjab.

In addition, Meta has taken the step of suspending Jyoti's Instagram account. According to police reports, suspicions arose when she attempted to apply for a visa to travel to Pakistan for content creation, prompting an investigation into her connections with a Pakistani espionage network.

During her visit to the Pakistani High Commission in Delhi, she reportedly came into contact with a Pakistani intelligence agent known as Ehsan-ur-Rehman, also referred to as Danish. Authorities claim that there was a significant relationship between them. Following this contact, Jyoti was allegedly prepared for several sponsored trips to Pakistan in 2023 and 2024.

Throughout her travels, she produced content that portrayed Pakistan positively, describing Lahore as the cultural heart of the country. She even included footage from an iftar party at the Pakistani High Commission in her posts. Currently, a case has been filed against her under Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act of 1923 and Section 152 of the Indian Penal Code. The police are actively investigating the matter, and Jyoti is currently in police custody for five days.

Authorities have also begun examining Jyoti Malhotra's international travel patterns and financial records. Officially, her financial status is not strong, yet she has frequently traveled to countries like China, Bali, and Pakistan, raising eyebrows regarding her connections with the alleged Pakistani agent. Officials are concerned that her income does not align with the costs of these trips, suggesting she may have received undisclosed financial support. Additionally, her planned trip to Pahalgam in January 2025, just months before a deadly terrorist attack in the region, is now under scrutiny for any potential links to her foreign associations.
