Haryana Government to Launch Major Recruitment Drive for Jail Department
Significant Developments in Haryana's Jail Department
The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, announced on Wednesday that a substantial recruitment initiative will be undertaken in the jail department, aiming to fill approximately 1,300 positions for jail warders shortly.
In addition to this, he mentioned that vacant medical and paramedical roles within the jail department will also be filled, along with the hiring of necessary staff for the newly established jail training academy in Karnal.
These announcements were made following the inauguration of the academy in Karnal. Saini also revealed plans for the construction of new jails in Panchkula, Dadri, and Fatehabad, with an estimated investment of around ₹300 crore.
Furthermore, a cow shelter will be established within the Karnal district jail premises. He emphasized that the new jail training academy marks the beginning of a transformative approach within the correctional system.
He stated, 'This is not merely the inauguration of a building; it signifies a shift in perspective and the dawn of a new vision. Our jails should not just be centers for punishment but also hubs for transformation, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.'
According to an official statement, the academy spans 6.5 acres and was constructed at a cost of ₹30.29 crore. On this occasion, the Minister of Cooperation and Jail, Arvind Sharma, praised the progressive initiatives being undertaken by the jail department.
