India's Remarkable Performance at Commonwealth Games

Chandigarh, August 2 - During the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, India achieved an impressive feat by securing 16 medals, propelling the nation to fourth place in the medal tally. Haryana's Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, commended the medal winners on Sunday, stating that the athletes have brought pride to the country. On Saturday, boxers made history by winning a record seven gold medals, while judokas and para track and field athletes also delivered outstanding performances. Thanks to this remarkable showing, India climbed to fourth place with a total of 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals.

Among the gold medalists in boxing on Saturday, six hailed from Haryana. These included Priya Ghanghas (60 kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51 kg), Ankush Panghal (70 kg), Sachin Siwach (60 kg), Jasmine Lamboria (57 kg), and Preeti Pawar (54 kg). Speaking at an event in Kotakpur, Punjab, Saini told reporters, 'Indian athletes, including those from Haryana, have made the nation proud.'

The success of Haryana's athletes symbolizes the state's rich sporting tradition and the growing strength of Indian boxing. He remarked, 'When youth channel their energy positively and stay away from substance abuse, they can win medals in international competitions, enhancing the country's pride.'

Saini also took to the social media platform 'X' to congratulate Haryana's medal-winning boxers. Praising boxers Preeti from Bhiwani and Jasmine, he noted that their determination, hard work, and discipline have brought honor to the nation. Congratulating Ankush from Hisar, the Chief Minister stated, 'Your patience, aggressive play, and excellent technique reflect your unwavering commitment to victory.'

This achievement stands as a proud symbol of the rich tradition of Indian boxing and Haryana's sports culture. While praising Sachin from Bhiwani, Saini said, 'No matter how tough the challenges were, you established your identity as a champion with your skills and fighting spirit in every round. Your victory is a magnificent symbol of Haryana's rich sporting heritage and the rising strength of Indian boxing.'

In his message to Priya from Bhiwani, he expressed, 'Amidst tough competitions, your courage, composure, and extraordinary skills have penned a new chapter of golden success. Your performance in the ring has elevated the reputation of Indian boxing and brought pride to the entire nation.'

On Saturday evening, Saini also congratulated boxer Sakshi from Bhiwani for winning a gold medal.
