Haryana's Sports Minister, Gaurav Gautam, praised the remarkable achievements of athletes from the state at the recently held Commonwealth Games 2026, declaring their performances have made Haryana 'golden'.

India wrapped up a successful campaign in Glasgow, securing a total of 39 medals, which included 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze, placing fourth overall.

Numerous athletes from Haryana, especially in boxing, contributed significantly to India's medal tally. Notable medalists include Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghangas, Sachin Siwach, Sharmila Dhankar, and Jaismine Lamboria.

In an interview, Gaurav expressed that the achievements of Haryana's athletes have instilled pride across the nation, from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the citizens of Haryana. He emphasized that Haryana is poised to become a 'mine of athletes' in the future.

"This is a historic moment. The way our athletes have represented India globally has filled the entire nation with pride. Everyone, from the Prime Minister to the Chief Minister of Haryana, is celebrating their success," Gaurav stated.

"The outstanding performances of our athletes have indeed made Haryana 'golden'. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them. We are confident that Haryana will emerge as a hub for athletes in the coming years," he concluded.

Looking Ahead to Amdavad 2030

India has officially embarked on its journey to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030 in Amdavad. The Commonwealth Games Flag was ceremonially handed over during a vibrant Closing Ceremony that not only celebrated the conclusion of Glasgow 2026 but also looked forward to the historic centenary edition of the Games.
