In a remarkable performance, Harita Bhadra from India secured the bronze medal in the women's 200m final at the Asian Games, finishing with a time of 23.20 seconds on Sunday in Aichi-Nagoya. The gold medal was claimed by Singapore's Shanti Pereira, who clocked 22.78 seconds, while China's Chen Yujie took home the silver with a time of 22.93 seconds.
Men's 200m Final Results
In the men's 200m final, India's Animesh Kujur finished in fifth place, recording a time of 20.80 seconds, narrowly missing a podium spot. Thailand's Puripol Boonson won gold with an impressive 19.88 seconds, followed by China's Huang Youwen who secured silver at 20.45 seconds. Japan's Soshi Mizukubo rounded out the podium with a bronze medal, finishing in 20.56 seconds.
Boxing: India’s Medal Prospects
In boxing, Narender advanced to the semifinals in the men's 90+kg category after defeating Thailand's Adthapong Saengtep by Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in the quarterfinals. The match was halted at 1:37 in the first round following two knockdowns by Narender, ensuring India a medal at the Asian Games.
Additionally, Indian boxer Parveen Hooda secured another medal for the country by winning her quarterfinal match in the women's 65 kg category. She triumphed over World Championships silver medallist Navbakhor Khamidova from Uzbekistan with a unanimous 5-0 decision.
Having previously lost her 2022 Asian Games bronze due to a doping violation, Parveen has made a strong comeback, winning her rounds decisively with scores of 4-1, 5-0, and 5-0 against her Uzbek opponent.
Furthermore, Ankush Panghal also guaranteed a medal for India in the men's 80 kg boxing category by defeating Tajikistan's Nekruz Salimov in the quarterfinals.
