Hailakandi, September 11: Hailakandi has distinguished itself as the leading district in Assam for the House Listing phase of Census 2027, achieving a completion rate of 93.36 percent.
As per the latest update released late Thursday, three out of the six Census charges in the district have successfully completed the house-to-house listing.
Sources from the district administration confirmed that the Katlicherra Circle and Lala Municipal Area have finalized their listings.
A Census official indicated that the remaining three charges are anticipated to finish their tasks within a day, positioning the district for full completion soon.
“In Hailakandi district, the house listing is progressing well with a 93 percent completion rate. Among the six charges, three have completed Phase 1 of Census 2027,” the official stated.
“Hailakandi is among the first districts in Assam to have its charge offices complete this work. We expect the remaining three offices to finish within a day,” the official added.
The official credited the swift progress to the collaborative efforts of enumerators and supervisors.
“This initiative showcases the dedication of our enumerators and supervisors, primarily teachers from local schools, who have embraced this as a national responsibility,” the official remarked.
Personnel in Katlicherra and surrounding areas faced challenging conditions, including landslides due to heavy rains, yet they persevered to complete the fieldwork.
“They navigated difficult terrains, often walking two to three kilometers,” the official noted.
This accomplishment positions Hailakandi at the forefront of Assam's preparations for Census 2027, highlighting the effective collaboration among the district administration, enumerators, supervisors, and other involved personnel.
Bharati Chanda, Deputy Registrar General for Census in Assam, reviewed the Census activities in the district and commended the Census team's efforts.
The initiative is being led by Hailakandi District Commissioner Jay Vikas, Additional District Commissioner Minerva Devi, and Census District In-charge B K Pareda, according to official sources.
The district administration is optimistic that the remaining house-listing tasks will be completed in the next two days, allowing Hailakandi to achieve full completion across all six Census charges.
