Guwahati's LGBI Airport Sees Unprecedented Growth in Passenger Traffic
Record Passenger Growth at LGBI Airport
Guwahati, Jan 2: The Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International (LGBI) airport in Guwahati has experienced remarkable growth in passenger numbers throughout 2025.
With a notable increase in both domestic and international travel, the airport successfully accommodated a total of 7.01 million passengers, comprising 3.5 million domestic arrivals and 3.4 million domestic departures. Furthermore, it managed 45,423 international arrivals and 45,474 international departures.
In terms of cargo, the airport achieved a significant milestone by handling 374 metric tonnes of perishable goods in December 2025. The GIAL Cargo Terminal recorded its highest monthly cargo volume ever, reaching 1,362 metric tonnes during the same month.
On December 22, 2025, the terminal also set a record for the highest single-day cargo tonnage at 60 metric tonnes.
Earlier, on October 5, the airport set a single-day record by processing 22,089 passengers, including those in transit.
According to an airport representative, “This achievement highlights the success of ongoing infrastructure improvements at LGBI Airport, which facilitate the efficient management of increased passenger traffic.”
Managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), LGBI airport has also broadened its international flight offerings, adding direct routes to Paro, Bangkok, and Singapore. These new routes have significantly boosted international passenger and aircraft traffic, with the airport recording 47,550 domestic aircraft movements and 1,000 international movements.
In total, the airport handled 32,990 metric tonnes of cargo this year, reinforcing its status as a vital cargo hub in the region.
“As LGBI airport continues to reach new milestones, it is committed to providing outstanding travel experiences and solidifying its role as a key gateway to Northeast India,” the spokesperson concluded.
