Gurjar Community Demands Political Representation from Parties
Gurjar Community's Call for Political Inclusion
In Jaipur, Ravi Shankar Dhabhai, the national president of the All India Gurjar Federation, has submitted a demand letter to the heads of all political parties, urging them to address the political representation of the Gurjar community. He has made it clear in his correspondence with the national presidents of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress Party that the neglect of the Gurjar community can no longer be tolerated.
With increasing awareness among the Gurjar community regarding their political participation, organizational representation, and appointments, there is now a demand for clear, transparent, and timely responses from political parties. The community has stated that they will no longer accept being viewed merely as a vote bank during elections.
Dhabhai further emphasized in his letter that the Gurjar community has a significant social and political presence across various states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. However, this presence is not reflected in the expected representation in assemblies, Lok Sabha, local bodies, political organizations, boards, corporations, commissions, and other important positions. This lack of representation is fostering a sense of political neglect among educated and talented youth within the community. He urged a change in the mindset that views the Gurjar community solely as a vote bank.
He conveyed a clear message to political parties that in a democracy, no community should be regarded merely as voters during elections. Qualified and capable individuals from the Gurjar community deserve respectable positions in decision-making bodies and political organizations, and political parties should make their accounts public.
