Praise for Jason Holder's Performance

Parthiv Patel, the assistant coach of Gujarat Titans (GT), has expressed admiration for West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, highlighting his impressive contributions in the current IPL season. The franchise had specifically aimed to acquire Holder during the auction due to his versatile skills and extensive experience in T20 formats. Acquired for Rs 7 crore, Holder has made significant impacts in critical moments this season, accumulating 58 runs and claiming 15 wickets across nine matches, boasting an impressive average of 16.46 and an economy rate of 7.63, including a standout four-wicket haul.

Long-Term Plans for Holder

During a pre-match press conference before the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Patel emphasized that Holder was always intended to be a key player for the team. "Prior to last year's IPL auction, we had already identified Jason Holder as a primary target. His form over the past 1.5 years in T20 leagues globally has been commendable. His experience is crucial for our team dynamics, especially with a player capable of bowling in both powerplay and middle overs, as well as contributing with the bat. This decision significantly influenced our strategy, and we are pleased with Holder's performance," Patel remarked.

Support for Rashid Khan

Patel also voiced strong support for star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, affirming the franchise's confidence in his abilities despite facing challenges this season due to injury recovery. In the ongoing IPL, Rashid has taken 19 wickets in 15 matches, averaging 23.47 with an economy rate of 8.77, including one four-wicket haul. "Rashid is a world-class bowler who needs no introduction. Although he has faced difficulties this season due to injury, he has shown remarkable recovery and has been performing exceptionally well. His dedication is evident as he continues to train diligently," Patel stated.
