Gujarat Police Administration Undergoes Major Reshuffle with 37 IPS Officers Transferred
Significant Changes in Gujarat Police
Gandhinagar, March 6: The Gujarat government has executed a substantial reshuffle within the state police force, resulting in the transfer of 37 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers who have been assigned new roles.
This restructuring, which takes effect immediately for the public good, involves various promotions and demotions to ensure that officers are placed in positions that match their ranks.
The timing of this reshuffle is notable, coinciding with the upcoming municipal corporation and district panchayat elections in key cities across the state.
Among the prominent changes, Nirlipt Rai, an IPS officer from the 2010 batch, has moved from the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) in Gandhinagar to become the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Rajkot Range.
Ashok Kumar, a 2003-batch officer previously serving as Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Rajkot Range, has been reassigned as IGP for the CID (Intelligence) in Gandhinagar.
Dr. Shamsher Singh, a senior officer from the 1991 batch, has been appointed as the Director of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards in Ahmedabad after returning from a deputation with the Border Security Force.
In another significant move, Raghvendra Vatsa, a 2005-batch IPS officer, has transitioned from his role as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Surat to IGP of the Ahmedabad Range.
The government has also established a new Banaskantha Range, increasing the total number of police ranges in Gujarat to ten.
Parikshita Rathod, a 2007-batch officer who was serving as Inspector General of CID Crime, has been appointed as IG of this newly created range.
Additional appointments include Vidhi Chaudhary (2009 batch), who has been named Deputy Inspector General of the Panchmahal–Godhra Range after her tenure as Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) in Ahmedabad.
Dr. Leena Patil, a 2010-batch officer previously serving as Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Law and Order) in Vadodara, has been reassigned to the Gujarat Police Academy.
A new Zone-8 has been introduced in the Ahmedabad police structure, with IPS officer Mayur Patil appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police for this zone.
Other notable changes include the promotion of Makrand Chauhan to IGP and his new role as DIG (Law and Order) in Gandhinagar, while Wabang Jamir is currently awaiting a new posting.
Numerous officers have also been appointed to senior roles in Surat, Vadodara, and within the state’s Intelligence and anti-corruption units as part of this administrative revamp.
