Gujarat Launches 100-Day Yoga Campaign Ahead of International Yoga Day
Statewide Initiative to Promote Yoga
Gandhinagar, March 13: The Gujarat government has initiated a 100-day campaign aimed at promoting yoga across the state in anticipation of the 12th International Yoga Day, which is set for June 21. The campaign was officially launched during a curtain-raiser event at the new MLA residences in Gandhinagar.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Gujarat State Yoga Board under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, seeks to enhance awareness about yoga and motivate its practice statewide as the international event approaches.
The launch event was attended by Sheeshpal Rajput, chairman of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, along with various legislators.
This marks the commencement of a 100-day countdown, during which numerous yoga activities will be organized throughout Gujarat.
Officials have stated that the program will feature yoga camps at district and taluka headquarters over the next three months.
These camps will emphasize the Common Yoga Protocol, which is recognized globally during International Yoga Day celebrations.
The board aims to highlight the advantages of yoga and foster greater public engagement in its practice.
“Our goal is to raise awareness about yoga among the populace and to cultivate a physically and mentally healthy community through the Common Yoga Protocol,” officials remarked.
They further noted that yoga should be perceived not just as a physical activity but as a holistic lifestyle.
“Yoga transcends mere exercise; it embodies a way of living. The board is dedicated to extending its practice to even the most remote villages in the state,” officials added.
International Yoga Day has been celebrated every year on June 21 since its recognition by the United Nations, following a proposal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This observance has been embraced globally, featuring public yoga sessions and awareness initiatives.
According to officials, the 100-day campaign in Gujarat aims to boost participation in yoga activities leading up to the global event in June.
The program is themed 'Ek Kadam Yogmay Vidhan Sabha Taraf', reflecting an effort to promote the adoption of yoga practices throughout the state.
The Gujarat State Yoga Board has announced that the campaign will persist in the upcoming weeks with various events and training sessions in districts and talukas.
