Overview of the 2008 Ahmedabad Serial Blast Incident

On July 26, 2008, a series of 21 bomb explosions occurred at 20 locations in Ahmedabad within a span of approximately 70 minutes, instilling fear throughout the city. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 56 people and injuries to over 200 others. The Islamic terrorist group HuJI claimed responsibility for these attacks. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing regarding the blast at Delhi's Red Fort, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) submitting forensic reports related to the victims' remains. The court has scheduled a review of the forensic evidence. According to the NIA, an explosion from a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) led to the deaths of 11 individuals and caused significant damage to nearby properties. The NIA has presented nine suspects before Special Judge Pitabhar Dutt, who has extended their judicial custody until the next hearing. The court has set July 13 for the next proceedings. The NIA has already filed a charge sheet against ten accused, including Shaheen Saeed. A supplementary charge sheet concerning Zameer Ahmed Ahangar and Tufail Ahmed Bhat is still pending consideration in the NIA court in Patiala.

NIA Files Supplementary Charge Sheet Against Zameer Ahmed Ahangar and Tufail Ahmed Bhat

The NIA has filed a supplementary charge sheet against Zameer Ahmed Ahangar, Tufail Ahmed Bhat, and one absconding accused in connection with the November 2025 Delhi blast case. Zameer and Tufail were arrested in February 2026. The agency had previously submitted a main charge sheet in this case. Allegations suggest that Zameer and Tufail were involved in gathering weapons and ammunition. Umar, Irfan, and Adil provided Zameer with a rifle, a pistol, and live cartridges. These three individuals are linked to the group 'Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.' This case is associated with a car bomb explosion that occurred near the Red Fort in November 2025.
