Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel Assesses Flooding in Bopal

On Friday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted an on-site assessment of severe flooding in the Bopal area, triggered by heavy rainfall. He held a review meeting with officials to discuss the extraction of rainwater and evaluate relief and rescue operations. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the Chief Minister personally visited the affected areas, engaging directly with local residents.

He instructed officials to expedite relief efforts and ensure that necessary manpower, equipment, and resources were made available immediately. Earlier that day, heavy rains had caused flooding in rural areas of Surat district in South Gujarat, with the Kim River swelling due to substantial water flow from upstream.

The river's overflow has disrupted traffic and daily life, with water inundating roads and residential areas. The Kim River's water level rose above the danger mark, leading to the complete closure of the road connecting Kosamba to Kim in Surat's Mangrol taluka. The swift current has made travel on the affected roads extremely hazardous.

Floodwaters have also entered nearby housing societies and residential neighborhoods, forcing residents to remain indoors due to water accumulation outside their homes. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to avoid approaching the river or wading into floodwaters.

NDRF Rescues Residents in Navsari District

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully rescued 67 individuals, including 25 women and 22 children, from floodwaters in the village of Sarikhurd in Navsari district. The NDRF initiated the rescue operation after receiving information from civil administration about villagers trapped due to the flooding. The rescue efforts are ongoing.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi are continuously monitoring the flood situation. Sanghvi visited Navsari to assess ground conditions and directed officials to ensure that there are no lapses in rescue, relief, and safety measures for the public.
